Magnet Information
BSMS Admission Criteria: *Please note: Brown Summit Middle School does not participate in a lottery system. Admissions are based on a ranking. The following are the criteria needed to “apply” and do not guarantee acceptance.
Due to the rigor and pace of the curriculum at BSMS, it is required that students:
- Score a 70th percentile or higher on the EOG in both Math and Reading in their last tested year.
- Have a final (year-end) grade of an A or B in each subject area in their 4th Grade Year.
- Possess a grade of A or B in each subject area on the most current report card in their 5th grade.
- 7th & 8th Grade applicants must meet the same criteria but include their latest test scores and grades.
- If a student does not have EOG scores, upload any recent standardized test information.
- Brown Summit Middle School does not have sibling preference.
Ranking & Notification (2024-2025 School Year)
- Applicants are ranked, and the top 80 rising 6th graders are accepted. Rising 7th and 8th-grade applicants are also ranked and will be accepted based on available seats. The remaining students will go on the waitlist.

BSMS Bus Transportation 2025-26
Community/Express Stop Locations
• Students are assigned to community/express stops based on their transportation address and will have a direct run to/from school.
• Community and/or express stops are generally located at GCS properties but may be located at non-GCS properties if the stop time interferes with the normal traffic pattern of the property.
• Community/express stops are not supervised by Transportation Staff. Parents should plan to arrive at least ten (10) minutes prior to the scheduled stop time. If a student arrives after the bus has departed, the student may not be left at the community/express stop location and parents will have to transport to school.
• There is a ten-minute arrival window (each way) based on the scheduled stop time.
• The Transportation department uses yellow buses and third-party contractors to provide transportation services for students.
• Requests for multiple stop locations dependent upon the day of the week or other considerations will not be accommodated.
